Before your departure your records will be reviewed thoroughly by your orthopedic surgeon. This may include X-rays, MRIs, sometimes an arthrogram and a complete medical and surgical history as well as your specific issues. After traveling to your country of destination, a new set of Xrays, MRIs and sometimes and arthrogram will be taken as well as an in person physical examination. The doctor will perform a variety of tests to make sure you are healthy and fit for surgery. These usually include blood tests, chest x-rays, an EKG (electrocardiogram), and urinalysis.The doctor will also go through you medical and surgical issues with you. During this visit, your surgeon will also review your rotator cuff repair procedure and answer any questions. The anesthesiologist visits the patient before surgery to discuss the type of anesthetic that will be used. The choice of anesthetic is based on the type of surgery that is planned, as well as the patient’s health and personal preferences.
