Your surgical team

Our CCSVI Excel Surgical Team is composed of US Board Certified and practice medicine both in San Diego, California and in Mexico. The medical specialties include CCSVI Liberation treatment, Cardiology, Nephrology, Internal Medicine, and Ophthalmology. A team-based approach allows for a more well-rounded diagnosis and treatment. The surgical team includes: clinical cardiology, vascular surgeon, interventional radiology and a cardiovascular surgeon.

The Procedure

Prior to treatment you will receive extensive pre-op testing consisting of 64-slice CT scan, blood test and neurological assessment. Excel’s CAT scan unit is one of the finest in the World, having a Phillips Brilliance 64 slice unit provides an extremely high resolution full color 3 dimensional images in every axis. The scan takes only seconds and exposes you to less radiation than conventional methods. Just as importantly, our imaging specialists review many more cases than similar technicians at other hospitals. They have years of experience, and experience counts. The actual CCSVI procedure will be done under Conscious Sedation, which means you will be able to respond to verbal commands but have an altered level of consciousness and will not feel any pain.
In a few cases, patients may require general anesthesia if deemed medically necessary. Unlike at most other hospitals, veins treated will be the azygos, both internal jugular veins and the vertebral veins. This procedure usually takes between 2-4 hours, much longer than at some other hospitals since the medical team is thorough in order to provide you with the best results possible.
