Certification is an important requirement when it comes to assuring that all procedures are performed according to professional standards. Currently, Star Médica is the only privately-operated hospital in the entire region that has received Certification through the General Health Council. The hospital received its certification in December of 2007.

The Commission for the Certification of Medical Care Facilities General Board of Health recently conducted an audit at Star Merida Hospital in August of 2009. During the audit, the General Health Council confirmed the validity of the Certification from December 12, 2007 until December 12, 2010. In addition, Star Medica Merida filed the application for Joint Commission International (JCI) Accreditation. It is important to note that the basic criteria for earning certification is to maintain safe procedures while avoiding unnecessary exposure to bacteria and other contaminants.
