Dr. Guido Giacalone, Lymphedema Treatment Specialist, Belgium
Dr. Guido Giacalone has teamed up with WorldMed Assist to provide micro-surgical lymphedema treatment in Belgium. Along with Dr. Jos Opheide, Dr. Giacalona has helped to develop the lymphedema departments at Heilig Hart Hospital (Mol) and a Sint Dimpna Hospital (Geel). They also spearheaded the development of the lymphedema center in Kaserlee.
Dr. Giacalone specializes in the micro-surgical repair of the lymph transport sytem using advanced constructive operation techniques. He has also co-authored several leading scientific research papers, and has also attended and co-organized numerous interational Congresses and Master Classes in the field of lymphedema treatment. He is currently a member of the Belgian Society for Vascular Surgery (BSVS), the European Society of Lymphology and the International Society of Lymphology.
Dr. Guido Giacalone graduated in 1994 as physician at the Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuoro in Rome, Italy. He specialized in Surgery since 2004, with special expertise in
Vascular Surgery (2007). Dr. Giacalone obtained his doctorate in Lymphatic Microsurgery at the University of Pavia under the supervision of Dr. Prof. Campisi.
Along with Dr. Giacalone and Dr. Opheide have treated over 800 lymphedema patients to date, with a complication rate of 0%. Dr. Giacalone’s outstanding achievements and excellent track record make him a valuable addition to the WorldMed Assist team.
